First review for Priestesses, Pythonesses & Sibyls!

As everyone who knows me knows, the anthology I published late last year “Priestesses, Pythonesses & Sibyls” was one I was very excited about.  It is thus with much joy that I can announce that the first review of this book which has been brought to my attention is a very positive one!  See:  http://babalon.nu/kb.php?mode=article&k=72 for the full review.

“Priestesses Pythonesses Sybils” is a wonderful documentation of the many ways the voice of the Sacred Feminine is re-arising in the modern magical revival. It would be wise for all of us to listen to that Voice.

Editor Sorita D’Este has done a marvelous job collecting essays from 18 women from many different Pagan paths and perspectives. Many of the authors describe entering the esoteric by one or another path, then absorbing methods from other magical systems, not finding them at odds with their basic perspective. I think this is emblematic of the magical revival in the 21st Century: there seems to be a “blending” of the esoteric systems from cultures around the world, working towards a World Magick of sorts, a coat of many colors. Each initiate wears the coat that fits them. ”

Avalonia.co.uk Updated!

Dear visitors,

Those of you who enjoy reading my musings here and on my other “unicursalstar” blog might like to know that avalonia.co.uk which I founded in 1997, has now been updated.  There are new sections for articles and resources related to grimoires and qabalah.  All the old material has now been purged and removed, whilst plenty of new articles are in the process of being added.  In fact nearly 30 of them in just the last week, with more to come in March/April.

Please let me know what you think, and remember to make suggestions for material and ideas you would like to see there,

Blessings from a starry night in Wales,

Sorita d’Este

  • When a Priestess passes beyond the veil…

It has been a difficult few weeks for us.  A friend, Priestess and much more than that, passed beyond the veil on the 9th of December 2008.  I am no good at writing words for such things, so instead I will just say:-

    Goodbye Mamma Bear.

May you have peace amongst the stars.

Some you may have known Helene as “Peacock Angel Incense” – There is a memorial eulogy written by her friend and partner of many years, Stephen Skinner, for those wishing to find out more see: www.peacockangel.com
